Worksite Safety - Field Booklet

Near miss incidents cause a potential for reoccurrences in short term and create a non-compliance culture in the long term. To encourage reporting of near misses and promote a positive safety culture on the worksite, the CSN in collaboration with industry have created the Worksite Safety - Field Booklet.

The above pdf document can be provided to a printer of your choosing to have field booklets created for distribution to all your  workers. To customize these booklets you can download the word version of this booklet here. The purpose of this two-sided field booklet is to prompt the proactive participation of workers in reporting near misses and provide encouragement for positive safety actions by workers.

The booklets should have a hard back so the pages are easily filled out by workers during their workday, and tear away pages that can be pulled out and forwarded to supervisors or safety personnel. A safety feedback box should be provided on-site so that  workers can anonymously submit their forms daily.

By reviewing the filled forms, the supervisor and safety personnel can follow the patterns of compliance and map out areas for improvement. It also provides successful methods of promoting safety using the examples of the acts of excellence done by workers.

To encourage and promote use of these forms by workers, companies and/or safety managers may want to provide a weekly prize draw for all the reports received each week. This also provides recognition for positive safety related acts. If you have questions about the use of this resource please feel free to contact us at info@safetynetwork.bc.ca.
