January 2010 - Merger will mean better construction safety!

The Construction Safety Network (CSN) is making a major move that will benefit safety throughout our industry — merging with the Construction Safety Association of BC (CSABC).

October 2009 - Construction Safety Network ensuring safety as BC phase of EQuilibrium™ demonstration homes breaks ground!

Launched in 2005, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) led the EQuilibrium™ Sustainable Housing Demonstration Initiative to bring together the private and public sectors to build homes and communities designed to be healthy, energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly, resource-efficient and produce as much energy as they consume on an annual basis.

"The Day of Mourning is tomorrow so the program launch comes at an important time to emphasize the importance of workplace safety,” says Stephen Torrence, CEO of the Construction Safety Network.  Small construction companies in BC have access to increased rebates up to 15% from WorkSafeBC when they complete the NEW Small Business Certificate of Recognition (COR) program.

The Safe Supervisor Took Kit is the first of three packages that will be distributed to the construction industry this year as part of the Year of the Supervisor campaign.

Thanks to an exciting decision rendered by WorkSafeBC, the incentive for taking part in the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program will now increase from 5% to 15%.  This means thousands of extra dollars in rebates will be paid out to BC’s safest construction companies throughout the province beginning early in 2009.

The new governance model will maintain a strong link to the BCRBHCA but now also includes representation on the CSN’s Board of all aspects of construction throughout the province. The new philosophy is that the CSN serves everyone “inside the fence.”  This means not only construction companies, but also those companies who are the primary service providers and suppliers to construction companies.
