Construction Aggregate Workplace Safety Workshop

Send your supervisors and managers to the Construction Aggregate Workplace Safety Workshop. Learn to identify pit or quarry hazards specific to your site, and implement a checklist of good practices to improve safety and utility in your operations.

 

The APABC and the CSN have developed the Construction Aggregate Workplace Safety workshop for the aggregate mining industry. Take the workshop and learn about the hazards associated with working in a pit and recommended safe work practices and risk controls to deal with these hazards, or get your Construction Aggregate Safety Leader (CASL) designation. 

 

To take the workshop

Consult the Course Schedule below and download and register for an upcoming course in your area. Submit your registration form to the CSN by faxing it to 604-436-0623 or emailing a scanned copy to info@safetynetwork.bc.ca.

To earn your Construction Aggregate Safety Leader (CASL) designation 

1. Consult the Course Schedule below and download and register for an upcoming Construction Aggregate Workplace Safety workshop in your area. Submit your registration form to the CSN by faxing it to 604-436-0623 or emailing a scanned copy to info@safetynetwork.bc.ca

The enrolment application asks for some --background information regarding your worksite and your past safety training.

2. Attend the one-day workshop.

At the workshop you will learn to use safety information as part of the program. The APABC and CSN have reviewed virtually every --job in a pit, ranked the hazards associated with those jobs, and recommended safe work practices and risk controls to deal with them. 

3. Using the materials provided at the workshop, create your own Risk Management System for your site.

The take-away materials provided at the workshop, and available from the CSN, include instructions for developing your own risk management system and the toolbox talk organizer. You can also access a searchable webpage containing risk profiles for virtually every job in a pit. From there, you can print out a form for each job, listing common hazards and providing a checklist of good practices. The purpose of the form is to help guide you and others on the crew toward safe solutions for site-specific hazards.

4. Submit your completed risk management system to the CSN for review and evaluation.

5. Work with a CSN Safety Advisors to refine elements of your risk management system as needed.

6. Receive your CASL certificate.
