Foundation
This course introduces the basic concepts of health and safety – the things you will need to know so that your company can set up an excellent health and safety program and get the most from participation in the Certificate of Recognition program. It is designed for people who are responsible for health and safety in their organizations.
Train the Safety Trainer
This course will assist you to plan and deliver safety training. You will develop basic skills to:
• conduct training sessions
• select appropriate learning activities
• use effective visual materials
• deliver instruction in a supportive environment
• and through the process of observation and feedback, you will gain insights in how to improve your own instruction
Ideas and strategies are presented that will provide you with a basis for making sound decisions in your training settings. The emphasis in this course is on the development of practical skills that you can take back and use in the classroom or in your work setting.
Early and Safe Return to Work
During this course we will introduce leading edge practice in the RTW field, and provide ideas and practical tools that you can take back to your workplace and use right away.By the end of the session, you will be able to:
• Recognise the benefits of early and safe return to work
• Identify the elements of successful return to work programs
• Identify the steps in developing an effective early and safe RTW program
• Develop a plan for a RTW program at your workplace
• Access tools and support services from the Construction Safety Network
Principles of Safety Management
For Principles of Health and Safety Management course provides you with guidelines and samples to help you prepare your own Safety Manual. If you choose to enrol in the Auditor Training course, the completed assignment along with thetest must be submitted to the instructor on day one of the two-day Auditor Training course. For Principles of Health and Safety Management certification you must complete the assignment and self-test on the appropriate pages in this guide and either bring them with you to the Auditor Training course for review by the instructor or forward the completed documents to the Construction Safety Network.
Owners and Managers Orientation
This course is not an introduction. It is about moving from acceptable safety to outstanding safety, quality and productivity. It is designed for leaders. Change doesn’t happen without the support of those of you who are at the top of an organization. By the end of the session, you will be able to:
• Improve the safety culture of your organization
• Recognise the importance of your leadership
• Understand the purpose and elements of the COR program
